Week 1. Complete. Well the last three days have been a bit mixed bag. Wednesday I woke up with a bit more pain than usual, then Thursday a bit more and then Friday a bit more. On the bright side it goes away faster than it used to, but it comes on pretty strong.
When I think about what's happening in there (it first makes me wanna pass out!) and then makes me think, well of course there's some pain. It's a whole new set of bacteria (ew.) in there. So I have finally finished Game of Thrones [I know Anna is smiling with pride as she reads this!] and there's all these big battle scenes and in one of them the Wildling dudes are in the forest and all these other guys come charging in, swords waving, horse feet thundering, you know the drill! And it got me thinking... that's what's happening in my colon everyday! It's like a Game of Thrones take over! Only the old bad colitis bacteria is like the Wildlings and the new bacteria is strong and awesome like the Stark family (may they rest in peace, most of them!).
On another note. I went for a massage yesterday, but not at a spa like joint... If you've ever been to a TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) doctor you know exactly the place, the smell, the sights. If you haven't.... imagine a very small 2 room space with diagrams of the body all over the walls, the intense smell of tiger balm in the air, the sounds of an Erhu softly playing, and 1 china man sitting in a chair at the back. Then he says something I don't hear often, "too early!" I must have misheard, "pardon me?" I look at my watch and see that my appointment isn't for another 13 minutes. So I wander out into the cobbled road and wander up a little street I hadn't noticed before. After 13 minutes of strolling I head back to the man for the massage. It's likely the tiniest room that could even fit a massage table and, as I climb onto it, I find myself wondering how he even gets around it to do the massage! But a moment later my question is answered, he just shoves the table where it needs to go so he can walk by! What I'm saying is, about 8 - 12 times throughout the 45 minute massage he would hip thrust the table 1 foot here 6 inches there... very bizarre but crafty for sure! In the first 2 minutes of the massage he gets half way down my back and announces, "your digestion wrong!" There were a lot of things that came to mind to say in that moment. "Yes... um that's true" was about all I managed. I can't say that it was the most text book, "relaxing" massage I have ever had, but it certainly was up there with the most interesting. Lots of shaking, moving the table, tiger balm and grunting. I later tried to explain that the reason I'm in the UK is to fix this problem. I could quickly see I was getting nowhere. He then produced a little white and gold box and said, "this make you better". Well isn't that a statement. He told me to "make photo of it" and talk to my doctors at home, I quickly did as instructed and thanked him very much.
It's now time for my 1 week break. So off to London tomorrow. Seeing a show tomorrow night, The Book of Mormon. Then heading north to Scotland on Sunday! Next time I write could be from Glasgow! Woohoo!
